Meet Harvey, one of our Production Technicians at Electrified Motors.
As one of the newer members of the team, Harvey is currently working in final assembly helping build motors before they move through testing and shipment, while continuing to develop his knowledge of electric motor technology. What Harvey enjoys most is the opportunity to learn.
Coming from another manufacturing environment, he’s enjoyed getting to grips with a completely new product and understanding how electric motors work.
Outside of work, you’ll usually find him following football or supporting Manchester United.

Meet Laura Ellis our Procurement Coordinator at Electrified Motors
Laura works closely with our Lead Buyer to make sure the components and materials we need are available at the right time, while helping us maintain lean and efficient stock levels.
Having joined Electrified Motors just over two years ago, Laura has enjoyed learning about our products, developing her knowledge of our MRP system and understanding how the different parts of the business work together. Before Electrified Laura spent more than a decade working in banking before moving into education.
Outside work Laura is a busy Mum to two daughters and enjoys keeping fit and exercising whenever she gets the chance.

Meet Ayrton Rogers, one of our Applications Engineers at Electrified Motors.
Ayrton works with customers to develop tailored motor solutions for their applications, adapting our products to integrate with everything from pumps to gearboxes while meeting customer requirements around performance, packaging and installation.
Ayrton completed an HNC in Manufacturing Engineering before starting his engineering career. His interest in engineering started much earlier though, building and racing cars with his Dad.
What he enjoys most about his role is the variety. No two projects are quite the same, and a new customer requirement can present a completely different engineering challenge.

Staff Q&A
I’m a Production Technician and currently work in final assembly where I help build the motors before they’re tested and shipped.
I’m still relatively new, so there’s a lot I’m learning at the moment. I’m confident with the assembly side of the process, but I’m continuing to develop my understanding of motor testing and how everything works together.
Like any new job the first few days were challenging while I got to grips with everything.
After that though things settled down quickly. Everyone has been really helpful and there’s always someone willing to answer questions or explain something if you need support.
I was working in another manufacturing role.
A lot of the skills transfer across because production environments are generally process-driven.
The atmosphere is really good. Everyone is friendly and approachable and you can talk to anyone regardless of their role.
It doesn’t feel like there’s a hierarchy where certain people are difficult to approach. Everyone is willing to help.
The learning aspect has been the most interesting part for me.
It’s different from what I’ve done before because it’s focused on electrical technology and electric motors. Understanding how the products work and learning about the technology behind them has been really enjoyable.
Football is a big interest of mine. I enjoy both playing and watching it whenever I can.

Staff Q&A
I’m a Procurement Coordinator and work closely with Dan, our Lead Buyer, to make sure we have the stock we need at the right time, while keeping our stock levels as lean as possible.
I also make sure materials and components are ordered for different projects so that the teams have everything they need for testing and development.
I support accounts with invoices as well, so there’s a finance element to my role too.
Just over two years.
When I left college I went into banking for around 13 years, so I have quite a strong finance background.
After that I moved into education. There was initially a finance element to the role, but it developed into supporting students who needed additional help and hadn’t necessarily had the best experience at school.
So coming into engineering and procurement was something very different for me.
Definitely. I didn’t have any engineering knowledge when I joined so there was quite a steep learning curve getting to know the products, all the different components and how all the different departments work together.
I enjoy the finance side, but I also really like looking at how we can be lean with our stock and finding efficiencies.
I’m quite an organised person, which probably helps when you’re a coordinator!

Staff Q&A
I’m an Applications Engineer and work with customers to develop tailored solutions for their applications.
My job is to understand our customers’ requirements and ensure our motor fits with their application.
That can involve designing the components needed to integrate the motor and then making sure production has what it needs to take that solution through the manufacturing process.
More often than not, customers already have an electric solution and are looking for greater efficiency, more power or a more compact motor.
That’s where our products perform particularly well.
Our focus is making sure the motor interfaces correctly with whatever it’s connecting to, such as a gearbox or pump, while also working within any packaging constraints they have. For example, they might tell us the motor can’t be longer than a certain dimension because of something else within the machine. We then have to design around those requirements.
I completed an HNC in Manufacturing Engineering. But by the time I was looking for my first job after college I’d already been heavily involved in building and racing cars with my Dad so I had quite a lot of practical mechanical experience for my age.
Probably the variety.
I have a core role, but what I’m working on can be completely different from one day to the next. A new customer requirement or engineering challenge can come across my desk at any time. That’s what keeps it fresh and interes
I still race on circuits around the UK, so engineering and cars remain a big part of my life outside work as well.
