Working At Electrified: Mechanical Automation Engineer Toby Elliot

As part of our ‘Meet The Team’ series, we asked Mechanical Automation Engineer Toby Elliot a few questions about his job and what it’s like working at Electrified Motors.
What’s your current role and what are working on at Electrified?
I am a Mechanical Automation Engineer. At Electrified Motors I design and develop automation equipment for both external projects and to support Electrified’s own production requirements for manufacturing electric motors.
My latest project is updating the design and the commissioning of a customer’s winding machine.
Describe your career so far?
I studied Product Design BSc at university and after graduating had a role as a Junior Design Engineer at a vehicle conversion company.
The opportunity at Electrified was a chance for me to take the next step-up in my career.
What attracted you to join Electrified?
I’ve always been really interested in robotics, and when I visited Electrified’s production facility I was really excited about the opportunity to work on their projects as they use a lot of advanced automation technology in their manufacturing platforms.
What do you enjoy most about what you do?
I love the problem solving and working on some of the more complicated automation equipment. There are also lots of opportunities to get involved in more challenging projects, which help with my personal development.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
In my spare time I enjoy working on creative projects that involve anything from making furniture to jewellery.
I also like being active and do lots of running, snowboarding, Muay Tai and bouldering!
If you could have dinner with any historical figure or celebrity, who would it be and why?
I would love to have dinner with the comedian Bo Burnham. He’s funny but also makes you think, so I’m sure we would have a really interesting conversation!
